We are a boutique tax and advisory firm with serviced offices on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, and we’re looking for a Business Services Accountant & Practice Manager to take a lead role hands on role in managing the firm with end-to-end accounting and tax services for our valued clients. You will be assisted and trained by the Principal in all areas of the firm and is a perfect career move to understanding the full scope of running a tech based firm.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position where you’ll be responsible for preparing financial statements, BAS, tax returns, and providing high-level business advice. You’ll be the go-to expert for our clients, guiding them through compliance and strategy with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare financial statements, BAS, IAS using Xero and associated tools

Prepare company, trust, and individual tax returns

Provide strategic business advice and tax planning

Establishing company and trust entities

Maintain company registers, prepare ASIC annual review and lodge ASIC related documents

Accessing ATO reporting/forms and communicating with the ATO

Onboard new clients and build lasting relationships

Communicate and follow up directly with clients, the ATO, and other stakeholders

Maintain high attention to detail and ensure compliance across all engagements

Answer phone calls and schedule meetings

As the firm grows your responsibility may include overseeing staff and support training and review functions.

About You

IPA/CA/CPA qualified or equivalent experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in public practice with exposure to the responsibilities above

Strong experience with Xero XPM accounting software and a must to be xero certified

Familiar with ASIC and CAS360 (an advantage but not essential)

Familiar with the setup of company and trust structures (an advantage but not essential)

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable and relaxed in delivering meetings via video link to clients and the principal.

Highly organised, efficient time manager with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines

Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive mindset

A life long learner - with the aptitude to expand your learning and experience
