Council is seeking an Asset Officer to join our Property Services team for up-to12 months, playing a key role in supporting our team.
This role involves managing capital projects, overseeing major maintenance work for commercial properties, and ensuring residential properties are maintained to the highest standards.
You will contribute valuable input into the development and implementation of operational maintenance and capital expenditure budgets, ensuring precise cost allocation. Additionally, the role includes providing detailed analysis reports on asset conditions, service levels, and risks, as well as investigating and documenting reactive maintenance requests that exceed the scope of the annual maintenance programs.
Key focus areas will include:
Inspect Property and Business Development building assets to ensure due diligence, engineering guidelines and best practice are provided in all assets accepted by Council
Conduct investigation, design, estimating and inspection for capital projects
Provide input into management plans, budgets and business plans and assist in development of forward and annual capital works programs for infrastructure works
Ensure long term asset maintenance is optimised by applying engineering guidelines and best practice to assets planned, acquired, and constructed
Assist with emergency response, as required, for properties within the Property and Business Development portfolio
Ensure the correct administration of the facilities maintenance and management contracts (including and not limited to essential fire services, security, air conditioning, lifts) of assets within the Property and Business Development portfolio

Our ideal candidate brings a strong track record in contract management, procurement, and estimating, with a sharp focus on quality and efficiency. You are confident navigating complex projects and have proven experience delivering capital infrastructure works from concept to completion. With a solid grasp of capital and operational budgeting, you know how to keep projects on time and within budget. Your exceptional communication skills both written and verbal enable you to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Specifically, you will have:
Trade certificate qualification in a relevant discipline such as carpentry or building and demonstrated experience in this field
Sound knowledge of asset management principles and practices, including asset lifecycle costs
Working knowledge of building codes and standards, essential fire services, security systems and Work, Health and Safety requirements
Proven competency with contemporary computer systems, databases and technical equipment
Experience in condition assessment and risk assessment of infrastructure assets
Class C Driver’s licence

35-hour working week with flexible working hours and nine-day fortnight
Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range
