Make a difference with Burdekin
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Payroll Manager to take the lead on all things payroll. This is a key role in our Finance Team, responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across the organisation.
You’ll oversee systems, improve processes, lead internal payroll support, and work closely with our People & Culture team to enhance the employee experience.
Work from either our Marrickville or Brookvale office with the option of full time or a 4 day week.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll for approximately 200 employees
• Interpret and apply SCHADS Award conditions
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation (STP, PAYG, Super, Workers Comp, etc.)
• Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audits
• Lead improvements in payroll processes and systems
• Support operational management team in managing payroll deadlines and approvals
• Train and support staff across payroll-related matters

What You’ll Bring
✔️ Proven experience managing an in-house complex payroll
✔️ High level of understanding and experience of the SCHADs award (essential)
✔️ Strong knowledge of payroll laws and processes in Australia
✔️ Proficiency with Excel and payroll systems (e.g. Employment Hero/KeyPay – desirable)
✔️ Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
✔️ Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
✔️ Not-for-Profit experience (a bonus but not essential)
