The City of Launceston, an award winning Employer of Choice, is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Position Title: Development Engineer

Position Number: POS1858

This permanent, full time position provides development engineering advice to advance the delivery of development activities to meet the needs of the City of Launceston.

Key responsibilities:

Assess the impact of proposed development on Council's assets and infrastructure and where necessary determine the modifications, upgrades or augmentation of those assets to ensure they are fit for purpose and provide for the wellbeing, enjoyment and safety of the community.

Assess development / building / plumbing applications, and consult experts as required to provide a comprehensive response on matters such as roads, transport, stormwater, waterways, and flooding, including the imposition of appropriate conditions of approval.

Review submitted engineering design plans to ensure they comply with relevant policies and standards, and collaborate with engineering consultants to make any needed adjustments for approval.

Undertake audits of development construction activities to ensure compliance with specified conditions and approved engineering design plans.

Provide assistance in addressing service / utility connections issues.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Analytical skills and an ability to make sound and efficient decisions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in infrastructure planning and development assessment, development compliance and/or civil design and construction

Proven application of engineering and municipal legislation, standards and policies
