Opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to undertake crisis assessment and deliver high-quality mental health services to patients in Central Australia.

The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.

Located in Alice Springs, the Crisis and Assessment Treatment Team (CATT) provides specialist mental health services to clients across the Central Australian Region, including case management, assessments and therapeutic interventions.

As a Nursing Clinical Specialist, your primary objective is to provide collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated clinical care for complex client presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area. This involves undertaking case management, conducting mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions, and providing sound professional advice and education on mental health issues to clients and family members.

To be successful, you will be an accomplished MH Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with demonstrated recent clinical experience in mental health assessment, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, treatment and rehabilitation methods and well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and culture is essential.

In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work effectively in a culturally safe manner. Ongoing appointment is subject to the completion of a Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to the specialty area.

The town is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including the MacDonnell Ranges and the Red Centre Desert. About 450kms down the road is Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation that is a spectacular sight any time of the year
