This is for a Fixed Term Full Time appointment 76 hours per fortnight until 28/06/2026, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Public Health team – Midwest.

To be successful, you will have...

  • Experience in disease control including understanding of public health issues and coordination of disease control programs.
  • Effective verbal and written skills, especially advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective computing skills.
  • Eligible for / or in possession of a current C or C-A Class driver’s licence.
  • Highly regarded - completion or working towards post-graduate qualification in public health.
  • Highly regarded - experience working in rural communities, particularly with Aboriginal people, and an understanding of Aboriginal culture.

Position Profile: The Clinical Nurse Specialist – Public Health plans, implements and evaluates public health programs and manages disease control programs at a regional level in collaboration with Regional Public Health Manager and Consultant Public Health Medicine. Acts as a resource for other health professionals in detection and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at eligible locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. Area Profile

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 470,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region is located in the northern middle section of Western Australia and incorporates three health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison, is recognised for its unique natural environment and is a culturally diverse region with Aboriginal people representing 13% of the overall population.
