We’re looking for an experienced Senior Barista to join our team at The Penguin Pantry with the incredible Daniel heading back to uni. The role is up to 38 hours per a week with a rotating roster that includes weekend work. The role will commence in mid-February 2024 but however we value leaving your former employer in the right way so can be flexible with start date.

Full time loading (alternative work loading/casual loading negotiable for the right candidate)

Quality coffee is at the heart of our hospitality offering, paired with simple food focused on local produce. We have top-of-the-line equipment, including La Marzocco coffee machine, and are meticulous about keeping it well maintained.

Ideally, you’ll have experience in front-of-house operations, as well as in the kitchen and of course behind the coffee machine!

The role involves:

• Operation of our coffee machine and other drink preparation
• Food preparation and service
• Friendly, professional customer service and use of a modern POS
• Kitchen and store cleaning
• Stock receival and inventory control
• Mentoring less experienced team members

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about local food and providing outstanding hospitality
• Loves coffee - ideally you will have worked as a barista before, but we will consider exceptional candidates who are new to coffee pouring
• Has demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-paced environment, and can keep cool, calm and maintain exceptional customer service, even when under pressure
• Is willing to work the POS system and can be relied on with cash handling
• Is interested in our broader retail grocery business and is willing to collaborate with our wider team
• Will ensure customers have an exceptional experience by maintaining high standards and consistent, high-quality service
