The Domestic Violence Actions Centre (DVAC) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Graduate Domestic and Family Violence Worker for maternity leave cover until January 2026 with potential to extend. ABOUT THE ROLE

In this position you'll work collaboratively with a dedicated team where your skills will be instrumental in providing a holistic response to support safety and create positive change. Your main responsibilities will involve conducting assessments to determine the risk and needs of individuals affected by domestic violence. You will also provide crisis support, assist in creating safety plans, offer information and referrals, and provide advocacy. Moreover, you may have the opportunity to collaborate with various stakeholders and assist with administrative tasks related to service delivery and data collection. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic approach to ensure the well-being and safety of those seeking assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Possession (or near completion) of relevant tertiary qualifications in the psychology, social work, human services or relevant fields.

Current driver’s license, Blue Card and National Police Check upon successful offer of position.

Knowledge and understanding of gender-based violence, trauma informed practice, safety planning, crisis support, system advocacy and case management

Working knowledge of or the ability to acquire understanding of the Domestic & Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and court and legislative proceedings

Well-developed understanding of person-centered and therapeutic support.

Work positively both as part of a multidisciplinary team and on an independent basis.

Document client information and maintain client files and statistics.

Ability to work within the philosophy, objectives and policies of the organisation including working within a feminist framework.
