ICM Agribusiness Pty Ltd trading as Peechelba Beef runs a 27,000 head beef cattle feedlot that provides specialist feedlot rations to cattle. The property is spread over 685 hectares of fertile river flats with the feedlot constructed on the adjacent undulating terrain. The operation produces grain and fodder crops for use in mixed rations which are fed to cattle within the feedlot. We are seeking a Diesel mechanic to assist in maintaining all on site mobile plant and machinery. The Diesel Mechanic will work with members of the maintenance team plus other company staff to take responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the complete suite of fixed and mobile plant in operation at the farm/feedlot.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts

2. Dismantling and removing engine assembles, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts.

3. Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components and referring to service manuals as required.

4. Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune ups, to achieve smoother running vehicles and ensuring compliance with pollution regulations

5. Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired

6. Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance.

7. Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers.

8. May inspect vehicles and detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.

9. May respond to machinery breakdown service calls

10. Maintain the Workshop in an orderly manner and ensure an adequate stock of consumables and replacement parts is always on hand.

11. Maintain accurate and up to date records on each item of equipment including serial numbers, operating hours, service intervals, manufacturers contact details, warranty details and all other information required to allow prompt maintenance, repair and replacement.

12. Participate in the regular Toolbox meetings and provide timely reports on activities undertaken and planned.

13. Participate in the Company’s Safety Committee and ensure that all operations of the Workshop and related staff are carried out in a safe manner, and in accordance with the Company’s WH&S policies.

Position Criteria:

1. Five years relevant mechanical experience, preferably with large machinery or equipment used in broadacre farming, feedlot, or grain or compost processing.

2. Demonstrated ability to develop sound recommendations regarding preventative maintenance programs, repair and upgrade of equipment and the ability to maintain neat and accurate work records.

3. Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.

4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

5. Relevant TAFE/Tertiary qualifications.

6. An ability to follow set protocols and ensure compliance with relevant animal welfare, safety, and QA requirements.
