
Energy Analyst - Fixed Term up to February 2026

We are looking for a proactive early-career Energy Analyst to join our Brickworks team in Sydney CBD, NSW, on a fixed-term contract until February 2026, to cover a period of parental leave.
Reporting to the General Manager – Energy, you will support the development and maintenance of data models relating to the company’s electricity and gas agreements and assist in the evaluation and delivery of key initiatives to manage energy costs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate with up to five years of relevant experience to gain exposure to the energy markets and contribute to meaningful commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Perform daily gas forecasting for plants and working with consultants to schedule gas deliveries in the wholesale gas markets.
• Develop and maintain gas volume forecasting models and processes for each plant.
• Process, reconcile and track payment of energy invoices.
• Reconcile, issue invoices and track payments of market settlement variation costs and revenues.
• Develop and maintain data models to provide actual and forecast plant energy costs, integrated with finance, pricing and operational processes.
• Build knowledge of energy markets, particularly Short-Term Trading Markets and the Victorian Declared Wholesale Gas Market.
• Work with finance and pricing teams to improve financial reporting related to actual and forecast energy costs, and gas and electricity consumption volumes.
• Assist in resolving energy billing errors, accounts payable issues and finance reporting discrepancies.
• Support the implementation of alternative fuel and renewable energy opportunities.
• Conduct research into potential alternative fuel and renewable energy solutions.
• Provide support on regulatory submissions related to the electricity and gas markets.
Success requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Postgraduate Degree in Engineering, Science, IT, Finance or a related discipline.
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing financial models in Excel and/or using business analytics tools is desirable.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks across multiple projects.
