Your role

As an Aviation Survival Equipment Technician in the Air Force, you’ll have the vital responsibility of fitting and maintaining life support and survival equipment in state-of-the-art military aircraft, such as the F-35A Lightning II, E/A-18G Growler and F/A-18F Super Hornet. You’ll also train pilots and aircrew to correctly use the equipment, ensuring their safety during Air Force missions, operations, and exercises.

Your duties may include:

Maintaining life support equipment within an aircraft such as life rafts, fire extinguishers, parachutes, and thermal components

Maintaining life support equipment worn by aircrew, including ballistic vests, oxygen masks, helmets, immersion suits, night vision goggles, anti-G suits, heads up displays and radios

Training aircrew on the proper use of safety equipment, survival techniques, and handling explosive ordnance, firearms and life support equipment.

You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills and trade qualifications needed with extensive on-the-job training, all while living an adventurous lifestyle and making a difference to Australia.

Salary

Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $83,610.

Location

Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.
