As a Project Manager within Operations at NIDA, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our facilities—driving building upgrades, capital works, and strategic projects that support world-class education, training, and commercial performances under the NIDA Theatres banner. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you’ll oversee project delivery from planning through execution, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholders. You'll also contribute to space planning, procurement, and the smart use of our iconic campus as we implement our long-term Strategic Asset Management Plan.

About the Role

As Project Manager at NIDA, you will be responsible for leading capital expenditure projects and building upgrades from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with strategic goals. You will oversee space planning initiatives to optimise the use of NIDA’s facilities and manage room booking systems to enhance efficiency and accessibility. The role includes tracking project budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations. You will coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants, proactively identifying and mitigating project risks. Additionally, you’ll support long-term planning through the development of procurement, maintenance, and sustainability strategies, conduct site inspections, and deliver regular updates to senior management. A key focus will be driving continuous improvement in project management, resource utilisation, and facility planning processes.

About You

You are a proactive and solutions-driven professional with a strong understanding of capital project planning, contract management, and construction processes. You bring experience in managing budgets, procurement, and contractor negotiations, and are confident navigating local building codes, regulations, and sustainability practices. Proficient in project management tools and reporting systems, you combine technical knowledge with excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. You thrive in collaborative, diverse environments and are committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, and inclusive outcomes. Detail-oriented and organised, you balance big-picture thinking with practical execution. You are either an Australian resident or hold a current, appropriate working visa.

This is a full-time 2-year contract with a base annual salary is $130,000 + 11.5% Superannuation, based on a 38-hour working week.

What we deliver

For those wanting to start a career in the creative arts, we offer full-time fully-accredited bachelor degrees in Acting, Costume, Design for Performance, Properties and Objects (props), Staging, and Technical Theatre and Stage Management, masters degrees in Cultural Leadership, Directing and Writing for Performance and diploma courses in Musical Theatre, Live Production and Technical Services and Specialist Make-up Services.

We also make our training available to the public with term classes, short courses, school-holiday programs, evening and weekend classes. Our NIDA Open programs are designed for children, young people and adults and we also run Corporate workshops for business professionals.
