Beaumont&Beaumont is pleased to present an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Advisor (APS6) at a major Commonwealth Government entity. In this role, the successful candidate will provide advice and consult with internal areas on large and complex procurements.

This role is offered on a full-time basis for a period of six to nine months, with the possibility of an extension. This role is to backfill a vacancy due to internal movement, and would be perfect for a procurement specialist already working in Commonwealth Government to temporarily transfer and develop their experience in a different area, or for someone with Commonwealth Government procurement experience to join a Commonwealth Government entity.

The client is looking for an immediate start, or ideally for the candidate to commence in the role prior to the end of May. This is a role based in Canberra, however with agreement with the client there is the possibility of working up to three days remotely.

Our ideal candidate

Demonstrable experience giving clear and accurate procurement compliance advice to internal stakeholders, and consulting with line areas on their planned procurement activities.

A strong understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules, financial legislation, standards, policies, guidelines, and principles of administrative law as they apply to procurement.

Ability to understand and manage stakeholder expectations, particularly taking that into account when providing procurement advice.

A strong understanding of procurement risks and mitigation strategies.

Demonstrated experience being proactive and using problem solving and influencing skills to resolve procurement issues in a timely manner with high attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and being comfortable working in an environment of changing priorities with competing timeframes.

Ability to work effectively in a team and be receptive to new ideas and feedback, and to adjust processes accordingly.

Ability to independently manage your own work as well as oversee and perform quality assurance on the work of others.

Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

The successful candidate will be required to work responsibly and autonomously. You will need to have demonstrable procurement experience at a senior level, with the ability to quickly understand the complexity, value, and nature of the procurements being reviewed.

This role may also require triaging and allocating procurement activities for review, advice and consultation. The team also engages in a peer review process, and the expectation is that the APS6 will be able to produce their own advice on procurement matters with some consultation with more senior members of the team.

The team is small but collaborative, and the APS6 is expected to supervise other staff at times. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to liaise frequently with internal stakeholders. The team values someone who is willing to learn, has an open mindset, and is team-oriented.

For a discreet conversation about this role, please contact the Labour Hire team on 02 6126 4500 or email [email protected], citing reference number 5870. To apply, please submit your CV in Microsoft Word format via Seek.
