About the Opportunity

We are searching for a high-performing Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Database) to support one of our key Federal Government clients. You will apply your specialist knowledge of database technologies—including SQL Server, high availability solutions (such as Failover Clustering and Always On Availability Groups), performance tuning, and general database administration—as well as your broader IT infrastructure expertise to provide expert advice on the management, maintenance, and optimisation of these platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning and delivery of infrastructure modernisation projects aligned with the client's ICT strategy

Support a range of Windows Servers, SQL Servers, backup systems, support tools, and virtualised infrastructure

Automate support tasks using PowerShell, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and other tools

Assist with the integration of cloud services

Operate with minimal supervision as part of a small multidisciplinary team

Required Skills and Experience

We are seeking a broad range of infrastructure skills, with a strong focus on Database Administration, including:

Expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, and maintenance

Proven experience with high availability solutions (e.g. Failover Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Database Mirroring)

Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning

Knowledge of SQL Server security best practices, including role-based access control and encryption

Highly Regarded Experience in the Following Technologies

Dell Apex Backup Services

Clearswift Secure Email Gateway

Exchange Online (hybrid environments)

Fortinet products (e.g. FortiGate, FortiClient)

Jira Core

Linux server administration (RHEL 7/8/9)

Microsoft 365 (Office Apps for Enterprise, Intune, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Defender ATP)

Monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, WhatsUpGold)

Teams Phone & Operator Connect

SOE development and application packaging (Intune, SCCM)

Splunk Cloud, including Splunk ES and Splunk ITSI (desirable)

Virtualisation technologies (VMware ESXi, vCenter, VDI)
