Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

Key duties and responsibilities

Key accountabilities

Deploy and maintain Netapp Storage for both on-premises and in the cloud, System monitoring requirements and thresholds as well as corrective actions and reporting. Perform management and configuration as well as analysis, development and evaluation of Netapp Storage systems for AFSA’s storage services.

Deploy and maintain Commvault backup solutions for both on-premises and in the Azure and Commvault cloud, System monitoring requirements and thresholds as well as corrective actions and reporting. Perform management and configuration as well as analysis, development and evaluation of Commvault backup systems within the AFSA on-premise systems and Commvault cloud environments for AFSA’s backup solution.

Plan, coordinate and implement measures to address the appropriate setting and enforcement of retention periods for different backup and storage systems data sets, rotations and lifecycles; and the strategies and capability for timely recovery of this data and to meet required Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

Ensure that systems Commvault backup and Netapp storage solution risks are proactively identified and managed. Develop and implement robust measures to mitigate issues.

Provide support and collaborate with relevant technical resources in relation to known or potential risks and issues. Interact with vendors in relation to incidents, problems, solutions and ongoing support arrangements when necessary

Support the delivery of enterprise technical solutions for projects and business as usual requirements

Contribute to the development of continuous improvement of processes and practices to ensure agency objectives are achieved

Technical skills

Qualifications, accreditations and experience 5+ years’ experience as a senior storage engineer/administrator working with traditional and cloud-based systems  Certification in NetApp or Commvault would be highly desirable  Expert knowledge in Netapp storage technologies  Expert knowledge in Commvault backup technologies  Expert knowledge in Commvault cloud technologies  In depth working knowledge of the ISCI, NFS and CIFS Protocols  Experience with a variety of concepts, practic
