In the Top End of the NT, we work in the communities of Minmarama/Kulaluk, Knuckey’s Lagoon, 15 Mile and Marlkawo.
About the Job
The Extended Hours Program operates in Darwin, providing essential after-hours activities and services for young people in the communities we work in. The program supports the wellbeing and engagement of youth through a diverse range of activities, including after-hours youth programs, school holiday events, cultural camps, and family-based events.
This position will provide coordination and leadership across the program generally as well as responsibility for two funded programs that focus on after hours delivery, a youth steering group, a youth voices and film project, family nights and a family wellbeing communications initiative.

You're passionate about creating safe, engaging, and culturally respectful spaces for young people. You understand the challenges faced by First Nations youth and families and are driven by a strong sense of social justice, cultural respect, and community wellbeing. You’re an energetic, hands-on leader with experience working in youth engagement, able to think creatively and act collaboratively. You value working in partnership with families, elders, and other stakeholders to build programs that support the whole community.
You thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy working outdoors and in community spaces, and are committed to supporting young people to have a voice in shaping their futures.
Essential Selection Criteria
1. Experience working with First Nation people and communities with ability to work positively. with people’s strengths and capacities, seeking opportunities for genuine inclusion.
2. Understanding of the social, cultural and health factors impacting First Nation communities
3. Relevant qualification in youth work, working with young people, community engagement or similar.
4. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and support young people.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
6. A genuine commitment to improving the wellbeing of young people and families in Darwin.
7. High level computer and digital literacy skills
8. Current Driver’s License.
9. Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and obtain an NT OCHRE Working with Children Check
