About the role
Reporting to the Aboriginal Health Unit Manager, you will be an integral member of a passionate team focused on providing culturally sensitive and excellent service to Aboriginal patients and their families.
- Support Aboriginal patients, primarily in the acute and sub-acute settings at the hospital
- Assist staff to provide culturally safe and respectful care to Aboriginal patients and families
- Liaise with key community organisations, particularly Aboriginal Community groups and services
- Contribute to achieving the outcomes of the Aboriginal health plan & national reconciliation action plan
About you
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Experience in engaging with Aboriginal people in a health care setting
- Able to undertake regular afternoon shifts
- Willingness to work toward a certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice)
- Have a qualification in Aboriginal Health/Education, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Welfare or equivalent. This is desirable rather than mandatory
