About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with Social Workers and Welfare Workers to provide direct services and support to families and individuals facing challenges. You will assist in developing programs, supporting clients, and connecting them with essential community resources to improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the work of Social Workers and Welfare Workers by providing services and support to families.
Assessing clients’ needs and planning, developing, and implementing educational, training, and support programs.
Interviewing clients to understand the nature and extent of their challenges and identifying appropriate support strategies.
Monitoring and reporting on client progress and maintaining accurate case records.
Referring clients to relevant community agencies and services for additional support.
Assessing community needs and resources in areas such as health, welfare, housing, employment, and training.
Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private businesses to address community issues and promote available resources.
Providing education, care, and support to families, children, and individuals with disabilities in adult service units, group housing, and government settings.
Supervising and supporting individuals on probation or parole to help their reintegration into society.
Assisting young people in resolving social, emotional, and financial challenges.
Preparing funding submissions and writing detailed reports for government agencies and partner organizations.
What You Will Bring:
Diploma in Community Services, Family Support, or a related field.
A minimum of one year’s industry experience, preferably in disability, mental health, aged care, or family support services.
Understanding of the NDIS and community services sector (or willingness to learn).
Strong communication, case management, and report-writing skills.
Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Good time management and organizational skills.
First Aid and Manual Handling certificates (or willingness to obtain).
A valid Australian Driver’s Licence (preferred).
Ability to pass a probity check, including the NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
