Education Assistant (Part-Time – Year 3)
Commencement Date: 19 May 2025 ( or by negotiation)
Days: Wednesday and Friday
Majella Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our Year 3 class in a part-time capacity. This role involves working two days per week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, commencing 19 May 2025. While a Special Needs qualification would be advantageous, it is not essential.
As an Education Assistant, you will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the classroom teacher to support the diverse needs of all students. This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled professional to contribute to a dynamic learning environment that is both challenging and deeply rewarding. You will become part of a cohesive and supportive school community.
Depending on future funding, the position may be extended beyond 31 December 2025.
Majella is a single-stream, co-educational primary school with an enrolment of approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school is in the northern Perth suburb of Balga and serves a highly multicultural community, with over 85% of students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English (LBOTE). In addition, we host an onsite Intensive English Centre catering to students in Years 1–6 who are developing their English language proficiency. The school embraces trauma-informed practices to support student wellbeing and engagement.
Essential Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with teachers and other staff to support student learning.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
Proven ability to engage, motivate, and support students with diverse learning needs, including students with additional needs.
Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of students and the classroom environment.
Sound understanding of confidentiality, duty of care, and professional boundaries within a school setting.
Ability to implement teacher-directed programs and adjustments to meet the individual learning goals of students.
Familiarity with trauma-informed practices or willingness to undertake training in this area.
Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively and maintain accurate records as required.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning and a willingness to contribute positively to the life and ethos of a Catholic school.
A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and necessary clearances to work in a Catholic school environment.
Application close by COB Wednesday 14 May 2025. Please send applications direct via email to the School Principal at [email protected]
