The Role

Engage clients through therapeutic interventions, considering the social determinants of mental health.

Use digital client management systems to track caseloads and coordinate group work.

Collaborate with other professionals and share information within a fast-paced environment.

Build rapport with clients, families, carers, and communities.

Work effectively with interpreters and support staff, such as Cultural Support Workers and Peer Support Workers.

Advocate for clients and assist with referrals to specialised clinical mental health services.

Provide recovery interventions in a culturally responsive framework, considering trauma and societal stressors.

Participate in group work facilitation and support team processes for case reviews and decision-making.

Contribute to service improvements and evaluations to enhance mental health support.

Ensure effective time management, prioritising tasks and responding to emergent issues.

Participate in the after-hours emergency roster when required and travel to meet clients and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or Behavioural Sciences.

Significant experience working with CALD communities in psychosocial support or mental health settings.

In-depth knowledge of mental health issues in multicultural populations and experience developing recovery plans.

Experience in applying strengths-based frameworks and advocacy in a social justice context.

Proficiency in using digital client management systems and reporting.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.

Knowledge of services and resources for multicultural populations.

Queensland Driver’s Licence, Blue Card (Working with Children), and National Police Clearance required.

Additional Desirable Skills:

Lived experience or representation from CALD communities.

Proficiency in a language other than English.

Leadership experience and mentoring skills.
