Step into a senior procurement role with one of Sydney’s largest and most dynamic local government organisations. As Category Manager – Fleet, you will take the lead in delivering strategic procurement and contract management for a high-profile Fleet Replacement Program—ensuring quality, compliance, and value-for-money outcomes that support a growing, future-focused community.

About the Fleet Replacement Program

This multi-year program is focused on the strategic renewal of plant and fleet assets that underpin essential council operations—from waste services and parks maintenance to civil works and emergency response. The scope includes the procurement and lifecycle management of a large and diverse fleet, including passenger vehicles, heavy plant, trucks, trailers, and specialised equipment.

As Category Manager, you will oversee the full procurement lifecycle a ensuring vendors deliver on performance, safety, environmental compliance, and cost efficiency. The program plays a key role in supporting council’s operational readiness, WHS compliance, and environmental sustainability objectives, including the transition to lower-emission fleet options.

Key duties:

Drive end-to-end tender and contract management across the fleet and equipment portfolio.

Lead vendor performance, procurement compliance, and risk management activities in line with NSW Government standards.

Collaborate across engineering, procurement, and governance teams to deliver efficient, strategic contract solutions.

Develop and implement Contract Management Plans including KPIs, supplier relationships, variations, and ongoing evaluation.

Key selection Criteria:

CIPS or CPSM certification (mandatory)

Demonstrated success in managing multiple complex tenders and contracts, ideally within fleet operations or a government setting.

Strong knowledge of NSW Government or Local Government procurement frameworks (or willingness to learn)

Ability to lead negotiations, manage vendor relationships, and align procurement outcomes with strategic goals
