What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Continence provides an advanced level continence assessment and management service as an expert in the specialty field and facilitates linkages and relationships with Local Health District (LHD) nurses and medical officers (in the acute and community settings) to support the management of clients with acute, chronic and complex continence issues.

The CNC is responsible for the provision of expert clinical advice, coordination, leadership and consultancy services within the defined speciality and target populations within Integrated & Community Health (I&CH), Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD).

The role includes assessment, care planning and review of clients in collaboration with primary service providers to ensure that evidence-based practice is utilised.

This role provides support to multiple community health centres and requires travel to other sites.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration: Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Regulation Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in continence.
  2. Demonstrated relevant post graduate qualifications in continence and/or other qualifications and/or experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
  3. Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence based research.
  4. Experience with contributing to strategic and clinical service planning and the management of organisational and cultural change.
  5. Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents.
  6. Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of the ability to develop, implement and evaluate specialty education programs
  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary framework within I&CH and the LHD, in addition other service providers.
  8. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willingness to use for work purposes.
