The Territory Wildlife Park showcases animals and plants of the Top End in both natural settings and in captivity and reflects the diversity of natural habitats of the Top End. The Visitor Engagement Coordinator combines a passion for wildlife conservation and education with strong skills in team leadership, tourism development and promotion.

The Role

As the Visitor Engagement Coordinator, you will manage the development and delivery of visitor experiences, and coordinate all aspects of engaging with local, national and international tourists, educational and specialty groups. You will also promote and drive the sales of the Park’s visitor experiences, commercial activities and events, and ensure guides services to visitors are delivered in a professional manner.

You will be required to work outside of standard office hours on a time-in-lieu basis with weekend and public holiday work.

Key Duties

Develop, deliver and monitor new visitor experiences, events, and engagement opportunities

Develop, implement and monitor a communications plan to maximise reach and community connection

Manage the Park’s media presence, including film and image libraries, web presence and social media

Provide strategic advice to leadership and shared services on media opportunities and issues

Liaise with clients, businesses, local tourism operators and other strategic partners, organise and conduct familiarisations, and ensure client satisfaction making a positive contribution to revenue

Plan, develop and distribute promotional materials, advertising and event marketing.

About you

You’re a motivated people person with great communication and organisational skills and a keen interest in nature-based tourism. To be successful you will have:

A high-level of initiative, motivation and commitment to achieving commercial goals

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure

Highly developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team on the creation of visitor experiences

A strong visitor and client focus with the flexibility to adapt to and implement change

Knowledge of local, national and international wildlife tourism markets, tourism trends and products, visitor needs, sales and media

Ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures

Experience in social media, including analysing and evaluating trends, and creating engaging content for various channels

An NT driver’s licence or ability to obtain.
