About the role

As the Land Management Team Leader at Hunter Fauna & Flora Controls', you will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of land management strategies and initiatives across our operations throughout the Hunter Valley. This full-time position will see you leading a dedicated team of conservation professionals to protect and maintain the natural areas and ecosystems under our care.

What you'll be doing

Develop and execute comprehensive land management plans to preserve the ecological integrity of our conservation areas

Manage a team of land management specialists, providing guidance, support and mentorship to ensure excellence in service delivery

Monitor the health and condition of natural habitats, identifying and addressing any issues or threats in a timely manner

Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders and community groups to coordinate collaborative conservation efforts

Maintain detailed records and reporting on the progress and outcomes of land management activities

Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in our land management practices

Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and internal policies

What we're looking for

Essential Criteria

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service experience

Qualifications in environmental science, conservation biology or a related field

Minimum 3 years' experience in a land management or conservation role, with a proven track record of leading successful initiatives

Extensive knowledge of native flora and fauna, ecosystem dynamics and sustainable land management practices

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of partners

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail

Proficient in the use of GIS software and other relevant digital tools

Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and protecting natural habitats

Unrestricted driver’s licence

ChemCert AQF 3

Desirable Criteria

Tertiary level qualifications

Firearms licence

Boat licence

Senior first aid certificate

Previous mine site experience
