About the Position

The City of Onkaparinga libraries are strongly valued by our community, providing a highly utilised collection for borrowing, well attended activities and programs, and a safe and welcoming space to meet, study and work.

An exciting opportunity is now available at Noarlunga Library for a skilled library professional to join our team.

In this role you will:

  • deliver quality library customer service
  • develop and curate the library’s Local History collection with a focus on collecting today’s history
  • plan and deliver engaging local and family history events, exhibitions and tours that meet the diverse needs of our community
  • provide expert reference service for local and family history enquiries
  • administer the digital asset database, ensuring accurate metadata and preservation of material.

About You

As the successful applicant you will be customer focused with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to quickly build rapport with a diverse range of customers. You will possess proven experience in delivering high quality customer service, demonstrated experience in planning and delivering engaging local and family history events and have a keen interest in heritage collections, with a knowledge of preservation and digitisation of historical material.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to a culture of quality internal and external customer experience
  2. Experience in organising, preserving and managing local history and archival materials.
  3. Experience in planning, developing, promoting and delivering local and family history events and programs in a public library or similar environment
  4. Knowledge and experience in cataloguing metadata using Dublin Core.
  5. Proven ability to train and develop staff and customer skills in local and family history research tools
