What you will do

Nestled within the Strategy and Engagement Portfolio, the Research, Policy and Performance Excellence team plays a key role in supporting the VCEA’s strategic leadership.

The Lead, Data Analysis and Insights plays a pivotal role in enabling VCEA to make informed, evidence-based decisions, and build data accessibility and literacy in Catholic education

This role leads to key strategic data initiatives, provides technical leadership in data management and analysis, and supports a culture of excellence in data governance and insights.

What you’ll bring

The ability to lead organisation wide data collection and analysis to support system level research, performance reporting and strategic projects.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing you to seamlessly translate complex datasets and share with senior and executive audiences.

Well-developed interpersonal skills, with experience engaging and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to meet reporting needs, ensuring relevance, accuracy and consistency of reporting and analysis.

Contribute statistical insights to research reports and publications prepared by the Research, Policy and Performance Excellence Team.

Provide mentor and leadership, technical guidance and supervision to the data analyst, leading by example.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to deliver outcomes within deadlines.

Stellar communication skills, with the capacity to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 4 years demonstratable experience in a similar strategy, business intelligence or data analytics role.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience with building Power BI dashboards, writing SQL queries and processing data using Python/R.

Demonstrable experience managing large and complex data sets, with high attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity.

Previous experience leading or supervising team members, including managing workloads, providing coaching and quality assurances.

Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
