Based at our Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility, as a Wastewater Operator you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment facilities in line with EPA licences and best industry practices.

An enjoyment and understanding, or interest to learn technical and maintenance activities will ensure your success in the role.

We develop and train our water industry operatives and will support you to achieve many things including a water industry qualification that will assist you to undertake the role.

About your new role...

You will be part of a small team, in a great outdoor location, assisting with looking after the Corporation's wastewater management facilities. You will be trained to specialise in wastewater management operations including preventative/routine maintenance, disposal and irrigation.

Daily tasks will include assisting in the operation of designated wastewater management facilities, collecting wastewater samples and updating operational and performance data. You will also have administrative tasks to complete regularly and be responsive to our customers queries and service issues. This will all be performed in conjunction with contributing to maintaining a safe workplace and being a valued team member.

About you...

To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:

• Minimum Year 11 education or appropriate trade qualification (e.g. plumbing or mechanical)
• Certificate 3 Water Industry Operations (Wastewater) (or willingness to complete) is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment, ability and experience in resolving issues whilst providing a strong customer focus.
• Physical capability to undertake tasks in relation to the operation and maintenance of wastewater systems and operational tasks.
• Identify and respond to operational issues, including participation in an after hours on call roster for emergency response.
• Strong OHS focus, commitment, and application
• Ability to apply standardised laboratory procedures and practices (or willingness to learn)
• Ability to perform an interpret basic mathematical calculations
• Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
• Competence using digital and computer-based systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills
• Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements

• Classification GVW2: $55,142 - $74,025 + super (starting point is negotiable dependent upon relevant qualifications, skills and experience demonstrated)
