The Strategy, Coordination and Governance (SCG) team within the Emissions, Strategic Coordination and Governance branch is a dynamic group of collaborators with a complex and diverse work program. We are keen to create a group of people who want to work in a strong and close team environment. We are seeking a selfstarter who loves a challenge. This role requires the ability to rapidly respond to complex issues and challenges in climate change policy. The Senior Policy Officer will contribute to the design and delivery of policies to support emissions reduction in Queensland. In particular, the role will assist with secretariat and policy support to the Clean Economy Expert Panel, coordinating Queensland's engagement in national and international decarbonisation policy, and policy development for sectoral emissions planning.
In this role, you will:
• Undertake research and analysis to support designing, delivering and evaluating contemporary policies and programs.
• Prepare and provide policy briefings and technical advice to senior departmental officers (oral and written).
• Manage your work program, including to prioritise, plan your workload for delivery, and action tasks to meet project plans using agile project management.
• Develop products including action plans, policy discussion papers, consultation strategies, briefing notes, guidelines, reports, correspondence, project and program plans, presentations and communication material for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to coordinating departmental positions on issues for whole-ofgovernment policy development.
• Contribute to the implementation of climate action projects and programs, including through contract management of outsourced delivery.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
What experience you will bring:
• Demonstrated well-developed knowledge, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of relevant Government priorities, policy and legislation.
• Demonstrated high-level ability to research, analyse and problem solve to develop responsive, well-evidenced, innovative and practical policy advice and program design.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with influence using high level written and verbal communication techniques, as well as the ability to present information in a clear and structured manner.
• Demonstrated well-developed ability to effectively prioritise and manage workloads to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
