About the role:
Our Resource Recovery and Waste Services team pride themselves on being proactive with educating our community about responsible waste management and focusing on delivering relevant and efficient services in support of a sustainable environment.
To meet the needs of our growing LGA, the Resource Recovery and Waste team is expanding to ensure we are aligned to the needs of our community.
We are seeking energetic and customer focused Operations Assistants, who will be based primarily at the Community Recycling Centre in Campbelltown. This role will also provide opportunity to assist at the Leumeah Effluent Disposal Facility.
The CRC is a new facility designed for the receival and recycling of Household Problem Wastes such as paint, waste oil, batteries, domestic gas cylinders, smoke detectors, conventional light tubes and compact fluorescent lamps and electronic waste (e-waste).
As an Operations Assistant, you will be responsible for:
To ensure that Council’s effluent disposal facility and community recycling centre operates:
in an efficient and safe manner;
in compliance with environmental legislation; and
to provide high quality service to customers visiting the facility.
To work cooperatively within a team environment to assist in achieving the Resource Recovery and Waste Services Section objectives.
To ensure all OHS and Risk Management requirements are met.
Facilitate the unloading, separation and storage of customer’s loads in a safe and efficient manner.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
Relevant experience in a waste facility or outdoor operational environment having a direct customer interface.
A working knowledge of the waste management industry and government policy on waste and recycling.
Current NSW Class C driver’s license.
Current forklift vehicle operator’s license for 2.5t (double mast) vehicle or be willing to obtain within first 3 months from commencement date.
First Aid certificate would be highly regarded
