About the role
This role provides in home and community based case management to families with children aged 0 to 12 years. The Family Support Worker builds strong, trusting relationships with families, often experiencing complex and compounding challenges such as family violence, mental health issues, housing instability and financial hardship.
Parenting support is central to the role. You will work alongside families to build their confidence, strengthen family routines and relationships, and help create safe, stable and nurturing home environments. This role also involves maintaining accurate case records, contributing to program development, and engaging with external service providers to ensure warm referral pathways.
You’ll work within a strengths based, trauma informed and culturally responsive framework that honours lived experience, meets families where they are, and builds real, lasting change.
Key Selection Criteria
Please provide a brief written response to each of the following (1–2 paragraphs per criterion):
Demonstrated experience in case management or family support roles, particularly with families experiencing complex challenges
Strong understanding of parenting support, child development, family functioning and early intervention principles
Ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with families using trauma informed, culturally responsive and strengths based approaches
High level interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with service partners and maintain accurate records
Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services or a related field or significant demonstrated industry experience
Essential Skills and Experience

Knowledge of family systems theory, attachment theory, and related practice frameworks
Ability to apply a range of intervention strategies to support families and improve outcomes
Conceptual and analytical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to complex situations
Understanding of intergenerational trauma and the impacts of systemic disadvantage
Competence using digital tools and client record systems
Ability to work independently and maintain strong professional and ethical boundaries
Commitment to reflective practice and continuous learning
Desirable
Experience working with Aboriginal families and/or CALD communities
Circle of Security, Protective Behaviours and/or Family Partnership Training
Familiarity with local support systems and referral pathways
Knowledge of WA child protection legislation
