Together, we're working to build a vibrant and sustainable regional city... and we would love for you to join us.

In the heart of the Goldfields, Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a modern and thriving city that embodies the true spirit of a regional community. Located approximately 600 kilometres east of Perth, more than 30,000 people call the city home and enjoy the amenities and facilities of a metropolitan city, with the lifestyle benefits that come from living in a place where nature and adventure are on your doorstep.

With new leadership, dedicated staff and a supportive Council, the City is working towards the vision of being a sustainable regional city of the future.

We are dedicated to working together to achieve the best possible outcomes and are guided by our intention to:

  • Be a clean and green city
  • Be a place people call home
  • Have facilities and services for everyone
  • Encourage and support economic development and diversification
  • Be a quality employer.

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking an experienced and driven professional to join our team as Coordinator Economic Development on a fixed-term basis.

This role plays a pivotal part in delivering best practice economic development services across the City. You will be responsible for leading a small, dedicated team of economic development and business engagement officers to plan and implement initiatives that support local business growth, attract private investment, and engage public sector stakeholders to drive sustainable and inclusive economic outcomes.

Reporting to the Director Advocacy and Strategy, you will proactively manage high-impact projects that contribute to the economic vitality of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. This includes facilitating partnerships with industry and government, delivering place-based programs to activate key precincts, and supporting business development opportunities that enhance the liveability and prosperity of the region.

We are looking for someone who is strategic, community-focused, and confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment. You will bring excellent stakeholder engagement and project management skills, along with a passion for creating positive economic change in regional communities.

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant experience in economic development or a related field;

• Demonstrated leadership experience, including the supervision and development of staff;

• A proven track record in the planning and delivery of economic development programs;

• Experience working with business and government to drive investment, innovation, or economic growth;

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills;

• A current WA "C" Class driver's licence and a National Police Clearance (no more than six months old).

This is a temporary, full-time position offered on a fixed-term contract to cover a period of parental leave. The role provides a valuable opportunity to lead impactful economic development work within a progressive local government and a unique regional setting.
