We are now seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer to join our team and help make a meaningful difference.
About the Role:
As a Residential Care Officer, you will provide care, supervision, and support for children and individuals with disabilities living in group homes and institutional care facilities. Working closely with clients, families, and other support professionals, you will help create a safe, nurturing environment that supports each person's growth and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessing clients’ needs and planning, developing, and implementing educational, training, and support programs.
Interviewing clients to assess the nature and extent of their difficulties and needs.
Monitoring and reporting on the progress, well-being, and development of clients.
Referring clients to relevant agencies and services for additional support.
Assessing community needs and identifying available resources related to health, welfare, housing, employment, and education.
Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private businesses to address issues and promote awareness of support services.
Supporting families by providing education, care, and supervision for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing, and residential care facilities.
Supervising offenders on probation and parole to assist their community reintegration.
Assisting young people to solve social, emotional, and financial problems through tailored support.
Preparing submissions for funding and resources, and writing reports for government bodies and partner agencies.
Providing daily care and supervision for children and people with disabilities in group housing or institutional care settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
What We’re Looking For:
Diploma in Community Services, Residential Care, Disability Support, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum one year of experience in residential care, disability support, child protection, or welfare services.
Strong communication, case management, and documentation skills.
Understanding of the NDIS, child safety principles, and trauma-informed care practices (or willingness to learn).
First Aid and Manual Handling certificates (or willingness to obtain).
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (preferred).
Ability to complete an NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check.
