About the role

The position will assist the Faculty Leader – Science and the Science Laboratory Technician as well as teaching staff to deliver effective practical science activities to enable hands on and inquiry-based learning opportunities to encourage student engagement in the science curriculum.

About the contract

The position is permanent, part time (22 hours per week), term time (40 weeks per year).

About you

To be considered for this role you will need:

· Valid working rights within Australia.

· Be committed to the goals, ethos and mission of the College as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition.

· Possess a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card for paid employees before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.

· Certificate III Laboratory Skills or Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or demonstrated relevant experience.

· Current Drivers Licence.

· Provide First Aid Certificate and Provide CPR Certificate (desirable).

· Sound knowledge of all strands of Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, Physics, and Psychology).

· Sound knowledge of current laboratory and experimental procedures, including relevant Workplace Health and Safety, risk and chemical management systems.

· Experience in a similar role in a secondary school, supporting teachers in a classroom setting, whilst displaying respect, patience and empathy for students.

· Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

· Administrative and accurate data entry skills including demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs (particularly Word and Excel) and information management systems.

· Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact positively with a wide range of stakeholders including, students, staff, and the wider community.

· Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise in order to meet competing deadlines.

· Ability to work autonomously, as well as contribute towards a team environment.
