Laboratory Technician

$32 - $38 per hour

20 – 30 hours per week

Wescorp Sandalwood has been processing and marketing sandalwood since 1994. We have an opportunity for a laboratory technician to test sandalwood and agarwood samples, raw wood and oil.

About the role

You’ll play a hands-on role supporting sandalwood and agarwood quality and production, working alongside the Directors, sales, and production staff to test and report on samples. You will collaborate with the ISO officer to ensure the laboratory meets required standards. Your primary duties will include a broad range of both solvent and hydro testing activities, sample preparation, equipment calibration and computer-based analysis.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyse samples, ensuring tests are conducted within the required time

Follow all quality control protocols to maintain high standards

Comply with laboratory safety procedures and proper PPE usage

Complete all documentation accurately and in a timely manner

Maintain a clean and organised workspace through regular housekeeping

Recording results accurately using internal software systems and standards

Assisting with routine testing and quality checks

Supporting bottling and production with quality control

Maintaining lab equipment and keeping workspaces tidy and safe

A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Reliable and punctual, with good attention to detail

Physically fit and able to work on your feet

Calm under pressure and committed to safe practices

Comfortable using basic technology and following procedures

Work with ISO compliance officer to ensure laboratory is at required standards

About you

The ideal candidate will possess:

Exceptional attention to detail

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

Background in science or vocational lab training

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable

A proactive, 'can-do' attitude

Willingness to learn

Strong teamwork skills

Experience using GC-FID is favourable
