Job Title: Senior Communications Officer
Contract Duration: 6 months from start date (possibility of extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $554.00 - $610.00 per day + super
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)
Location: Hybrid – Parramatta office 1–2 days per week, remainder WFH
This role supports a high-profile, fast-paced program focused on implementing actions from the Review of Selective Education Access. The goal is to ensure that entry to selective schools is based on ability, not background. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team driving significant educational reform.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement an effective communications function and strategy for the High Performing Student Program.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and execution of a comprehensive communications plan aligned with program rollout milestones.
- Coordinate and draft responses to media and ministerial enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Produce high-quality, engaging, and factual written materials including briefs, reports, presentations, and stakeholder messages.
- Maintain and enhance relevant websites and resources in collaboration with the program team.
- Use analytics and insights to evaluate communications effectiveness and optimise channel usage.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support communication and engagement initiatives.
- Provide strategic and operational advice on internal and external communications, ensuring message consistency and promoting best practices.
Requirements
- Government sector experience is Desirable
- Strong background in both internal and external communications, including high-level strategic messaging.
- Proven ability to communicate at the Ministerial level, with experience preparing high-stakes responses, briefs, and messaging.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
