We are working with a large government department to source an experienced Senior Communications Advisor. In this role you will play a pivotal role in shaping the public image and community engagement strategy for a significant project. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans, overseeing stakeholder engagement initiatives, and maintaining a positive relationship between the project and the public. Your expertise will guide the strategic direction of communications and ensure effective dissemination of information to various audiences. This is an opportunity to secure a three-year contract with one of the largest employers on the Sunshine Coast.

Your duties will include:

· Develop and executive a strategic communications plan to support the infrastructure project’s objective and milestones.

· Lead community engagement efforts, including public consultation, to foster positive relationships and address community concerns.

· Craft clear and compelling messaging for various platforms, such as media releases, social media, newsletters and project updates

· Coordinate with project managers, government bodies, and contractors to ensure accurate and timely communication of project developments.

· Prepare briefing materials, speeches, and presentations for management and stakeholders.

· Monitor and analyse media coverage, public opinion, and industry trends

· Manage crisis communications and issues resolution

· Provide expert advice and support to senior leadership on communication and community engagement matters

· Evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities and report on community engagement outcomes.

Skills required:

· A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a communications and community engagement role, preferably within infrastructure, construction, or government sectors.

· International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification, or a willingness to obtain certification independently.

· A current Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence (desirable)

· While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing would be highly desirable.

· Proven track record of developing and delivering successful communication and engagement strategies.

· Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail

The current pay range for an AO6 is $77.00 - $82.40 per hour plus super, your rate will be assessed based on the skills and experience you bring to this role.
