Who you’ll be working for:

Hunter Resource Recovery (HRR) is a collaborative initiative between Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland City Councils, and Singleton Council, managing kerbside recycling services for over 162,000 homes. Located in Bulwer St Maitland, HRR focuses on recycling contracts, community education, and hotline operations.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Community Recycling Education and Liaison Representative, you’ll promote proper recycling practices, conduct bin inspections to identify hazards, and engage with residents through communication and conflict resolution. You’ll work in a small team, starting at 4:30 am - 1 pm, 38 hours per week, with one paid roster day off each month.

REAL Team duties include:

- Inspecting recycling bins and identifying non-accepted products

- Repairing recycling bins and conducting data entry

- Educating residents on correct recycling methods

- Ensuring hazardous bins are properly marked

- Maintaining clean survey vehicles and following safety procedures

- Working in all weather conditions

Qualifications and Experience required:

- Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence (5+ years driving experience)

- Valid First Aid Certificate

- Proven customer service experience

- Strong teamwork, honest, reliable, with good communication skills

- Basic computer skills (iPads, mapping systems)

- Ability to walk up to 5 kms per day

- Residency in the Hunter Region

- Recycling industry knowledge desirable
