About Us:
Our client is a leading innovator in the 4WD aftermarket industry, dedicated to designing and developing high-performance parts and accessories that enhance the capabilities and enjoyment of 4WD vehicles. They are looking for a motivated and experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to contribute to their ongoing success.
The Role:
As a Mid to High Level 4WD Mechanical Draftsperson, you will play a key role in their R&D team, focusing on the design and development of new 4WD suspension parts and accessories. This is a hands-on position that requires you to collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and the sales team throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to prototyping and testing. You will be instrumental in bringing innovative designs to life and continually improving the existing product range.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing products for the 4WD aftermarket industry, collaborating with engineers, the sales team, and technicians for product development (design, prototype & test), and continually improving previous designs.
Designing jigs for bending and manufacturing processes.
Developing detailed 3D models and assemblies with specifications for manufacturing using SolidWorks.
Creating accurate 2D manufacturing drawings, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing procedures, and welding procedures.
Disassembling and reassembling vehicles to obtain the necessary information and measurements for new product designs.
Compiling Bills of Materials (BOMs) with accurate cost pricing.
What You'll Bring:
Minimum 2 years of previous experience in SolidWorks.
A genuine passion for 4WDing and the automotive industry.
Ability to design and draw complex 2D, 3D, and assembly drawings in SolidWorks.
Excellent knowledge of 4WD vehicles, with a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of suspension and driveline requirements.
Confidence in disassembling and reassembling vehicle suspension components.
Proficiency in using workshop equipment and hand tools.
Experience in a manufacturing/warehousing environment.
Strong computer skills.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage your workload to meet targets.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to problem-solve effectively and make timely decisions.
A curious and growth-oriented mindset, with a willingness to learn and be mentored by senior engineers.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing tasks and priorities.
Good physical fitness and the ability to perform required tasks.
Current driver's license.
Reside locally (within an hour's drive).

Desirable Skills and Experience (Not Essential but Highly Regarded):
Previous experience in the 4WD industry.
Previous experience with SolidWorks PDM.
Experience with 3D scanning (using a Leo) and ARTEC Studio.
Experience operating a CNC Brake Press.
Background in sheet metal or boilermaking.
Previous experience as a 4WD accessory fitter.
Knowledge of manufacturing and welding techniques.
Cert IV in Engineering Drafting.
