Design Draftsperson
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Design Draftsperson to join this growing team. This role will suit someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, compliant, and practical design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed architectural and structural drawings for residential, commercial, and childcare projects.
- Ensure all documentation complies with Australian Building Codes (NCC) and local council requirements.
- Maintain accuracy across all drawings throughout the project lifecycle, including revisions and updates.
Design & Planning
- Develop master plans, templates, and town planning drawings.
- Contribute to the design and production of marketing materials and presentation content.
- Maintain and enhance internal drafting standards, templates, and processes.
Design Coordination & Compliance
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure designs are functional, buildable, and compliant.
- Integrate feedback from stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and contractors.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to minimize errors and ensure documentation is construction-ready.
Construction & Project Support
- Provide ongoing technical support during the construction phase.
- Liaise with site supervisors and contractors to resolve any design-related issues.
- Prepare and finalize as-built documentation upon project completion.
Standards & Process Management
- Regularly review and improve documentation standards and drafting procedures.
- Ensure project files and records are organized and readily accessible for future reference.
Team Support & Mentoring
- Support and oversee the offshore drafting team, ensuring consistent quality and standards.
- Share expertise to assist in design improvements, problem-solving, and efficient project delivery.
Skills & Experience
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building Design (Architectural), Drafting, or similar field.
- A degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering is advantageous but not essential.
- A minimum of 5 years’ drafting experience within the architectural or construction sectors.
- Proficiency in Archicad is essential.
- Strong understanding of architectural and structural detailing.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Building Codes (NCC), council regulations, and planning requirements.
- Experience with commercial or childcare centre projects is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with design coordination, documentation for building permits, and approval processes.
- Competent in interpreting technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Solid grasp of construction methods, building materials, and engineering principles.
- Understanding of accessibility requirements and childcare-specific design standards.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
