About the Role
We are seeking applications for Casual Demi/Commis Chefs. Reporting to the Executive Chef and nominated Sous Chef, you will bring valued contribution to the daily operations of QPAC's smooth kitchen operations and management, working across five food outlets withing the one building! Serving large numbers of patrons on a daily basis, we are looking for your driven and professional attitude and passion for producing quality food within an exciting and busy industry. Your drive and strong communication skills will foster strong relationships with our wider front of house team members, internal and external customers.
Succesful candidate's skill level will be determined during screening process.
These are not 9-5 positions and require a high degree of flexibility in work times as the majority of shifts are rotated over seven (7) days, predominantly during evenings and weekends to meet operational demands. As a minimum requirement to meet business needs, applicants must be available for a minimum of three (3) shifts per week. Within this availability, staff must be available for one (1) shift on a Wednesday and one (1) shift on a Saturday.
Dependant on skill level, in this role you will:
Assist in drafting concept ideas and menus for selected special events and functions, encouraging Food and Beverage staff to also offer their creative contributions.
Coordinate the effective utilisation of all Kitchen Hands within the effective staffing levels, ensuring that all kitchen areas are maintained in a hygienic condition at all times and also ensuring adherence to standards.
Assist in the development of standard recipes and maintenance of updated and accurate costings of all dishes prepared and sold.
Develop new dishes and products according to customer expectations that are value for money.
Supervise the kitchen in the preparation and presentation of all food items in accordance with QPAC's guidelines.
Set food production and stewarding goals and develop strategies, procedures and policies.
Review on an ongoing basis the level of the following: sales, costs, drafting of rosters, issuing of food, quality and presentation of food products, condition and cleanliness of facilities and equipment and guest satisfaction.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
Proven experience cooking within a commercial kitchen. (Must be a Qualified Chef)
An eye for detail and presentation, along with a passion for creating exciting and high-quality food.
Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all internal customers and guests in order to exceed their needs.
An ability to monitor and maintain consistent standards relating to quality, presentation and hygiene.
