Cheese Shop Manager

Our Cheese Shop provides the opportunity to enjoy cheese tastings and buy our cheeses as well as complimentary gourmet produce and giftware. Located in a renowned tourism precinct that also houses a bakery, cafe, cellar door and gift shop, we're loved by locals and visitors alike.

About the role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Cheese Shop Manager to lead our team, playing an essential role in ensuring a great visitor experience and driving growth through the sales of our award-winning artisan cheeses.

At the Cheese Shop, you’re at the forefront of our brand, and we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional product quality and tourism experience every time. Your days will be full of serving customers, delivering generous and memorable product-tasting experiences, including product information, pairings, providing product suggestions based on taste, helping customers make produce selections for a picnic or their next platter, as well as staff leadership and management, budget and cash management, and promotion of Milawa Cheese.

As they say no day is the same here. This position involves varied shifts and weekend/overtime work.

Key aspects of the role are:

Oversee daily operations: Managing the daily tasks within the Cheese Shop from ordering to staff management.

Visitor Experience: Ensure a great visitor and customer service experience with the ambiance and theme, fast-paced food service, merchandising, cleanliness, and vibrancy of the space.

Event/Group booking Management: Planning and coordinating on-site events to promote the Cellar Door, experiences and products.

Collaboration with Sales & Marketing: Working with our team to promote Milawa Cheese Co products and our Cheese Shop, including monitoring current industry trends.

Business Performance: Ensuring the Cheese Shop is operating at the best possible outcome for the business, including hitting targets, following budgets and cost of goods sold.

About you

You'll love cheese and bring strong planning and management skills, with great customer service. The position involves various shifts, including weekends and public holidays and will involve events.

A lover of cheese and gourmet food + experience.

Experience working in a similar quality produce or tourism business.

Commitment to delivering exceptional food experience quality every time with strong attention to detail.

Great team player & People person - good communicator, high reliability and well-organised.

Project management skills in ensuring all daily job activities meet deadlines, quality, availability and required standards.

Can-do attitude, with a hunger to learn about the cheese-making process and passion for your work and respect for teammates.

Ability to maintain strict hygiene standards, quality assurance processes and professional personal presentation.

We take our safe food handling very seriously here, so a Safe Food Handling Certificate – Supervisor level or Certificate III in Retail Operations, Marketing, Sales, Hospitality, Business or the ability to obtain one, would be highly regarded.
