As a Senior Technical Officer, you will:
- Lead and manage technical staff to ensure efficient and safe operation of teaching and research laboratories.
- Provide expert guidance on OH&S standards, ensuring a safe laboratory environment for staff and students.
- Oversee the management of hazardous substances, including risk assessments, safety procedures, and compliance.
- Maintain and audit chemical inventories, ensuring regulatory compliance for storage and disposal.
- Manage the School’s Inwards Goods facility and research SharePoint page, optimising resource allocation and content management.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or extensive laboratory operations experience.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
- Expertise in laboratory safety regulations, including OH&S, hazardous substances, and dangerous goods compliance.
- Experience in risk assessment and safety management for hazardous substances and laboratory equipment.
- Supervisory experience and/or skills in staff and student training in laboratory settings (desirable).
