About the role

Chislett Farms is seeking an experienced Irrigation Manager to join our 200HA orchard in Narrung, VIC. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and sustainable operation of our irrigation systems across our 3 crop types. (citrus, Avocados, Pistachios)

What you'll be doing

Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our irrigation infrastructure, including pumps, pipes, and water monitoring systems

Analyse water usage data and soil moisture levels to optimise irrigation schedules and water efficiency

Collaborate with the farm management team to develop and implement irrigation strategies that support our sustainable farming practices

Oversee the maintenance and repair of irrigation equipment, coordinating with external contractors as needed

Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant water regulations and environmental policies

Train and supervise the irrigation team, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal system performance

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our irrigation systems and processes

What we're looking for

Significant experience (3+ years) in an irrigation management role, ideally within the agricultural or horticultural sector

Strong technical knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and soil science

Demonstrated ability to analyse data and interpret it to make informed, data-driven decisions

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to optimise irrigation efficiency

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the farm management team and external stakeholders

Familiarity with relevant water regulations and environmental compliance requirements

A passion for sustainable farming practices and a commitment to environmental stewardship
