As part of this expansion, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive and support the overall Engineering Team in the successful delivery of projects for AGITO automation solutions in either Brisbane or Perth, reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Your Key Attributes
Established experience in the manufacturing area of industrial conveyors, elevating platforms and other industrial transport and automation solutions
Must have the ability to understand and review technical designs
Competent in problem solving, team building and decision making
Strong verbal & written communication skills
Good verbal and written English
Proactive in supporting the local production team with local support on the supply chain
Microsoft Office skills
Familiar with design programmes, like Navisworks
Ability to produce drawings rapidly to a good and consistent standard
Some electrical understanding may be useful, but not necessary
Excellent communication and networking skills

Purpose of the Role
To drive and support the overall Engineering Team in the successful delivery of projects for AGITO automation solutions.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer specialising in the design and production of automation solutions, your role is pivotal in conceptualising, designing, and implementing innovative automation solutions to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with our design team to oversee the design process whilst supporting the manufacturing team to assist in the development and implementation of future designs.
Across the manufacturing lifecycle, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will evaluate the needs of the engineering design team, whilst supporting Project Managers and the Production Managers with the below:
Work closely with the APAC team with a balance between design and producing drawings from existing designs.
Act as a senior subject matter expert in design engineering for younger engineers.
Critically analyse the designs for each project.
Support the production team with design queries.
Work closely with designers and project managers.
Support the Mechanical Engineering Manager with department initiatives and improvements.
Support the Mechanical Engineering Manager with department resource planning.
Lead subordinate design engineers to:
Ensure the product is ready on time and correct.
Ensure the most cost-efficient production.
Ensure the quality tests of each product are fulfilled.
Develop and maintain relationships with our local partners.
Oversee the mechanical QA procedure.
Monitor the expected timeframes and, if necessary, immediately communicate any adjustments internally.
Work on continuous improvement.
Respectful and appropriate handling of company resources.
Any other tasks as required.
This is primarily an inward facing role:
Inwardly:
Liaising closely with the engineering design team, Project Managers, Production Managers, and the manufacturing team during the design process.
Outwardly:
Liaising with our partners.
Liaising with our customers as required on projects.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Work closely with designers and project managers:
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including our local partners, designers, and project managers to translate project requirements into detailed mechanical designs for automation solutions.
Critical design analysis
Lead and mentor younger design engineers
Design and amend drawings when required
Identify and resolve any design or production issues
Support the production team with design queries
Oversee the mechanical QA procedure
Monitor
Resource allocations
Designs for each project
The development process, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards that may arise.
Quality tests of each product
Reporting
Provide regular updates to project stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and proposed solutions to ensure alignment with project objectives.
Design queries and resolution
Update of internal documentation
Engineering completion status vs assigned timelines and budgets for each project
Your Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold a post graduate degree and more than 7 years’ experience in mechanical engineering – salary will be commensurate with experience
Advanced AutoCAD and Inventor (or similar) skills
Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills (Excel)
Have a proven track record in detailed design of bespoke machinery, preferably in material handling
Have proven experience in generating detailed cost analysis for designs and associated value engineering strategies
Strong baseline knowledge of mechanical engineering with the ability to coordinate and communicate with associated stakeholders
Have the ability to lead and mentor subordinate or junior engineers
Have technical proficiency in safety and the functional principles of safety
