Senior Development Officer - Cairns

Your Opportunity:

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Development Officer (Civil) to join our team for a short-term contract (until the end of May). In this role, you'll provide technical leadership, support your team, and help deliver high-quality development outcomes across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of civil development professionals
• Provide expert development advice and guidance
• Attend and chair Pre-lodgement and Project meetings
• Drive continuous improvement of processes and systems
• Promote a positive and customer-focused team culture
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver compliant development projects

About You

• Demonstrated experience in development, engineering, or civil construction (preferably in local government)
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Able to work autonomously and meet deadlines
• Committed to delivering high-quality, efficient outcomes
• Passionate about teamwork and workplace culture

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Project Management (or equivalent experience)
• Current C Class Driver's Licence
• Able to pass police, drug, and alcohol checks
• Desirable: Membership with a relevant professional body and/or knowledge of environmental systems
