About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at EVRA restaurant and market' in Newstead, QLD. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef and leading the kitchen team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our customers. This is a full-time position.
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development and ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation
- Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team, delegating tasks and ensuring efficient workflow
- Maintain strict quality control and food safety standards
- Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new menu items and specials
- Assist with inventory management, ordering and cost control
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment in the kitchen
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a high-quality restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong background in modern Australian cuisine and a deep understanding of food trends and preparation techniques
- Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and lead a team effectively
- Passion for creating innovative, visually appealing and delicious dishes
- Relevant qualifications in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certification
