The Beaudesert Show Society is seeking a passionate and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead one of Southern Queensland’s most respected agricultural show societies. As one of the few shows in the state to own and operate its own showgrounds, this is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact — not just on an annual event, but on a thriving, year-round community venue.

With a rich local legacy and ambitious plans for the future, the Society is looking for a leader who can strengthen day-to-day operations, build lasting partnerships, support our volunteers and members, and deliver a flagship show and vibrant events calendar for years to come.

About the Role
This is a hands-on and high-impact leadership role. Reporting to the President (or their delegate), the CEO will oversee all aspects of the organisation’s operations — from business planning and stakeholder engagement, to venue management and event delivery.

You’ll drive strategy, guide growth, and lead the delivery of the annual Beaudesert Show while also ensuring the Beaudesert Showgrounds continue to thrive as a key community asset.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing and delivering strategic and operational plans

Managing finances, budgeting, reporting, and revenue generation (including sponsorships and grants)

Building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders, including government, sponsors, community groups and vendors

Overseeing the planning and execution of the annual show and associated events

Leading the promotion and effective use of the Showgrounds as a premier venue

Supporting staff and volunteers with strong, inclusive leadership

Ensuring governance, WHS and regulatory compliance

You will bring:

Proven leadership experience – ideally in the not-for-profit, events, community or membership-based sectors

Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting and securing revenue

A strategic mindset and a track record of delivering sustainable growth

Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills

Hands-on experience working with volunteers and small teams

Knowledge of governance, WHS and compliance in community-based organisations

A passion for community events and the Show movement
