A bit about the role

In February 2024, the City of Casey experienced a severe weather event that led to storm impacts and power outages.

In this role you will coordinate the planning and implementation of activities to support the Casey community in recovery and resilience, as part of our Emergency Management Team.

This is a Limited Tenure opportunity to June 2026.

What you’ll deliver

  • Support the Casey community in recovery activities and events.
  • Develop a place-based resilience initiative that engages affected communities in identifying local challenges and co-creating practical, community-led solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal Council teams and external key services/agencies to identify community recovery and resilience needs.
  • Identify priority locations for engagement and education to build awareness of severe weather emergency risk.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify activities to strengthen the organisation’s resilience and support delivery of recovery activities.
  • Undertake evaluation of recovery and resilience activities and ensure record keeping and reporting requirements of the Council Support Fund are met.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in community development and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to manage projects within budget and deadlines.
  • Proactive time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience in post-disaster recovery planning and project delivery will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and Functional Assessment (Medical/physio)
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
