About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a 2 part time permanent Disability Support Workers for the Disability Support Program based in Cranebrook, 2749.
Disability Support Services (DSS) offers a variety of leisure and recreational activities for children and young people with disabilities up to the age of 25.
The available part-time positions requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, including Saturdays.
The Disability Support Worker, will be responsible for;
- Assisting in implementing strategies to ensure weekend groups and school holiday programs offer age-appropriate and developmentally suitable activities for children and young people with disabilities
- Attend to personal care needs of participants respectfully and compassionately
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team, encouraging and supporting colleagues
- Provide a safe and happy environment, adhering to relevant WH&S policies and the Disability Standards
- Promote independence among children and adolescents while maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment
- Work flexible hours, including Saturdays, to meet individual participant needs and support program development
About You
As a Disability Support Worker, you will ideally have;
- Certificate III or above in Disability, childcare services or equivalent or currently completing study in certificate III or relevant experience in disability, childcare services or equivalent
- Ability to maintain an environment that minimises challenging behaviours
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children
- Knowledge, experience and/or training in keeping with person centered approaches and ensuring best outcomes for children with a disability
- Workers are required to have a current full NSW Driver Licence
- Access to fully maintained passenger vehicle for work purposes
The position is subject to the following clearances prior to commencement:
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
- National Criminal History Check Clearance

Salary: Base $63,521 to $71,085 (pro rata) per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
Vaccination for COVID-19 is a condition of employment and engagement with Barnardos.
