About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager with a construction or heavy industry background to step into a key leadership role, reporting directly to the General Manager.
This is more than just a numbers role — you’ll be a trusted business partner who keeps the financial engine running smoothly while also overseeing key operational and HR functions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Lead a small finance team (bookkeeping & data entry)
- Own cash flow management and forecasting
- Oversee payroll, superannuation, and timesheet compliance
- Manage accounts receivable/payable, invoice queries, and approvals
- Prepare monthly reconciliations and ensure financial reporting accuracy
- Handle price lists, capex procurement, and credit applications
Contracts & Compliance
- Review, submit, and negotiate service contracts
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies
Operational Support & Systems
- Oversee MYOB and provide financial reporting insights
- Support procurement of parts and fleet management
- Provide first-level IT support and liaise with external consultants
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and online systems uptime
People & Culture
- Oversee HR admin: onboarding, reviews, performance management
- Act as the RTW Coordinator for WorkCover matters
- Lead with a positive, team-first attitude
Who We’re Looking For
You’re a qualified (CA/CPA preferred) Finance Manager/Management Accountant with experience in construction or hire industries. You’ve worked with EBAs (CFMEU preferred), understand how site-based operations run, and thrive in hands-on environments.
You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves to solve problems, and you enjoy being part of a hardworking, values-driven team.
Must-Haves:
- Finance Manager/Management accounting experience in construction, equipment hire, or related heavy industries
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Deep understanding of cash flow, compliance, and operational finance
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
